Welcome Pilot! If you like the Hyperion books you may like the Neverness series, or Wolfe's Book of the New Sun, as well. I'm kinda a newbie 2 Simmons, but yes you've found great author there! And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.

Ahira, Ahira, he called out silently to the sky. Ahira, Ahira

Hello,

I just found this message board system and was excited to see a board dedicated to the works of Dan Simmons. I have read everything the man has published, be it short stories, novellas, chapbooks (fiction and nonfiction), each novel at least once and have even managed to read the majority of articles and interviews by and about Dan over the years. I admit it, I am a Simmons fanatic. Not in the stalking way, just a tremendous fan of his writing. members.aol.com/krobinett...ordsky.gif

My first encounter with a Dan Simmons novel was CARRION COMFORT and to this day it stands out as the best "horror" novel I've ever read. After CC I read the first two HYPERION books and was blown away. They are, along with the two ENDYMION books, the best science fiction books I've ever read.

So, after this brief introduction, I'll look forward to talking to some fellow fans of this great writer, take it easy!

Greg, who reminds anyone who's interested that Dan's second Joe Kurtz novel, HARD FREEZE, is now out in paperback with a nice excerpt from the upcoming third Kurtz book, HARD AS NAILS.

Welcome to the Hangar! I am glad to hear that you are such a fan of Dan Simmons! I think that he is a fantastic writer -- and few people would be willing to write in so many different genres! Our lives are the songs that sing the universe into existence.~David Zindell
