King I think I may just pop over to your site to brush up on elves--there's so many, hard to keep track of them--what are their origins, how did they come to Middle Earth. I'm sure JRR says plenty about it in LOTR and Sil but I just don't remember right now... Fall Far and Well Pilots!Edited by: danlo60 at: 5/20/06 8:51 pm

Elves were around from the early beginnings, and they were the first speaking people made by Eru.There were two groups: the East Elves (the Wood Elves) and the West Elves. Later they became three groups: the Wood Elves, Grey Elves, and the High Elves. Wonderful group of people! Arise now, Riders of Théoden!Let horse be bridled, horn be sounded!Forth Eorlingas!

LOTR is one of my two obsessions at the moment (the other one is the X-Files). I've actually gone so far as to re-read The Silmarillion. And I've got a Quenya course that I've downloaded and plan to get to work on when I have time.

Let's see...my two favorite characters would have to be Gandalf and Sam. Heh.

Super choices Foamfollower! I think Gandalf is always my favorite. I love LOTR, but I really get into high gear when Gandalf is present in the story. 2nd and 3rd choices would be Aragorn and Glorfindel. Arise now, Riders of Théoden!Let horse be bridled, horn be sounded!Forth Eorlingas!

mmm .. fav character .. Gandalf .. Strider .. Sam .. Frodo .. umm there are so many great characters.

but if I had to choose just one .. it would be between Gandalf and Strider .. and I am leaning toward Aragorn. I know .. its just that its very difficult!

ok I will go now .. health and healing

That is a hard decision. I wouldn't mind traveling with either, and I'd feel safe with either Gandalf or Aragorn.

Fan of the movie...working on the book fandom.
The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.

the movie was great wasn't it .. but I wish they hadnt made it seem like Frodo just up and left the shire right after Bilbo's birthday party .. and I would have preferred Frodo looking just a little bit older. But apart from that .. it was good .. oh .. there were a few other things .. but that is enough for one post health and healing

Here's a cool Tolkien resource link:www.theonering.net The power of ahimsa is not just the readiness to die. It is the willingness to live. To live utterly without fear - this is a fearsome thing. Edited by: danlo60 at: 10/16/02 10:51:49 am

I guess my favorite charater would be Frodo, followed by Aragorn in a close 2nd

Frodo for his unselfishness and Aragorn for his humility - both for their bravery

I adored Gandalf. He was so...cool.

Im re-reading the Hobbit(havent gotten THS yet...) and its better then I fondly remembered. I like it because its more friendly, imo, then LOTR, no huge battles, no War of the Ring.... The planet he saw appeared to have continents that looked surprisingly like Northern Europe and North America. Ransom realized it was Earth he was seeing-Thulcandra, the Silent Planet
