Feanor was clever and talented, but he was also self-centered and selfish, and this greatly detracts from his appeal.

I like Gil Galad and Finrod quite a bit but don't remember all that much as I read the Sil 22 years ago--looking 4ward 2 reading it again! Mathematics is a game.
