Nicola Griffith's Ammonite
The Forever War (done)
China Meivelle
Robinson's Years of Rice and Salt
more Patrick O'Brian
the new Stephen R. Donaldson
and George RR Martin (if it somes out)
Dan Simmon's short story collections I haven't read yet

and there's probably more I can't think of off the top of my head...

I know I probably won't get all of these read, but it will be fun trying...

Does anyone else have anything they want to read????

I just want to finally finish Memory, Sorrow & Thorn - I started months ago, but keep having to wait for the next book...

I'm definately getting aFfC as soon as it's out, and possibly Runes of the Earth... New Spring is out in Jan, though I'm divided on whether it's worth the bother...

You could always wait until it comes out and check the amazon reader reviews...

Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn is a good read, IMHO...

speaking of which, I should add Tad Williams's War of the Flowers and possibly his Otherland series to my list.

After reading her short story in Legends 2, I think I am going to bump Robin Hobb up to the top of the list. Especially since the last book in her three trilogies about the same world is finally due out in the USA next month. No waiting for the next book in a series! YAY! It's been out in OZ and Europe for months now, even though she is an American writer. Sure hope that won't happen with the new Donaldson and Martin books... ******************************************************

Well, I can cross a couple of more things off my list. I got a lot of reading done this weekend. I finished my reread of Mordant's Need by Donladson, finished a book of Irish/Celtic mythology and legends, and I started reading the Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb. Got done with the first two books, in fact. Will get started on the third today...
Hobb writes good, in depth characters...but she is even tougher on them than Martin is! So far she doesn't seem to be an in-depth world builder, so if someone likes highly detailed books of that sort, they might not care for her stuff - but those who enjoy character driven books might really like Hobb. ******************************************************

I got done with my reread of the Riddlemaster Trilogy. Wonderful read.
I'm going to take a bit of a break from fantasy, as I've been reading so much of it lately. So next up will be the history book, Rape of Nanking, followed up by the science fiction book The Forever War. ******************************************************
