Just letting everyone know that I'm out of here for a couple of weeks. Everyone take care while I'm gone.

Quote:
Ella Fitzgerald's Manhattan

Summer journeys to Niag'ra
and to other places aggra-
vate all our cares.
We'll save our fares!

I've a cozy little flat in
what is known as old Manhattan
we'll settle down
right here in town!

We'll have Manhattan
the Bronx and Staten
Island too.
It's lovely going through
the zoo!

It's very fancy
on old Delancy
street you know.
The subway charms us so
when balmy breezes blow
to and fro.

And tell me what street
compares with Mott Street
in July?
Sweet pushcarts gently gli-ding by.

The great big city's a wonderous toy
just made for a girl and boy.
We'll turn Manhattan
into an isle of joy!

We'll go to Yonkers
Where true love conquers
In the whiles
And starve together dear, in Chiles

We'll go to Coney
And eat baloney on a roll
In Central Park we'll stroll
Where our first kiss we stole
Soul to soul

And "My Fair Lady" is a terrific show they say
We both may see it close, some day

The city's glamour can never spoil
The dreams of a boy and goil
We'll turn Manhattan
into an isle of joy!

Hope you have fun duchess! -----------------
"If we lived in a State where virtue was profitable, common sense would make us good, and greed would make us saintly. And we'd live like animals or angels in the happy land that needs no heroes. But since in fact we see that avarice, anger, envy, pride, sloth, lust, and stupidity commonly profit far beyond humility, chastity, fortitude, justice and thought, and have to choose, to be human at all...why then perhaps we must stand fast a little - even at the risk of being heroes." - Sir Thomas More, "A Man For All Seasons," by Robert Bolt

Well I'm on vacation too! Flew all day Sat then was transported by Bardo (Rodney) across Manhattan and New Jersey to his home on the Delaware river on the back of a motorcycle -drove back up to Hastings-attended a birthday brunch for my Day and I (slamon on the grill and quiche) made by my little sis Z and her hub Mal. Also attending were Rodney, DD (my older sis), nephew Mal Jr. and neice, Miss Lydia.

Talked to Fist (Highdrake) for a half hour-we're going to meet Thurs at Palisades Center. Tomorrow we're going to see March of the Penquins-and right now, after gazing at the mighy Hudson for an hour (water! there is water in the world!!! ), I'm going to read Consider Phlebas until I pass out! *****

Well, I'm back from the first part of my vacation. We went camping at Harrisville State Park on Lake Huron for the past few days.

It was lovely and peaceful, and I have a tan from lying on the beach and got a ton of reading done. If I find time in the next couple of days, maybe I'll make a post of two about the books I read. One of them was a super-fun science fiction anthology.

No cell phone reception up there, though. So when I got home and turned my cell back on, I found a bunch of messages from Fist and Danlo. They both sounds pretty excited about the get-together this weekend!

Two days and we'll be on our way to New York to meet up with Fisty and Danlo and DLB!

Lots of things to get done before then, though (like laundry and packing -- and I need to pack slightly nicer clothes for New York than I do for camping ) so I probably won't be around much in the meantime. ******************************************************

The trip is going well. New York City with friends from the Watch/Hangar was awesome. ******************************************************
