Anyone else here on . Despite its name it's really not to do with pictures, facebook is an online social networking site, think more like LJ but less text-y.

I know Menolly's into it, I'm not. I got bored with MySpace after 3 days and my last post, like a year and a half ago was: kids get off this crap it's just a breeding ground for porn and child molesters

Im facebook alright dont use it much I just use as alink to events me and my friends spend together ie photos from a party at Hallowen etc and Im able to keep in touch with members of my family which is cool but not into all those invites and such . I have friends whom have 100s of freinds on facebook but I like to keep it down to the bare minimum. In general its alright

Thanks for the perspective, taras. I was never into Myspace or Facebook, as they seemed to represent more on-line clutter than I'd want to deal with. Who knows? One day I might suddenly develop a keen interest, but as of now, I just don't see the point of joining. In terms of social networking, I think KW and the Hangar have basically served that function for me through the years.

I share your feelings about MySpace vs. Facebook, Tara. I have never had any interest in being on MySpace. I am, however, on Facebook.

I'm not really into either one, though there are a couple of Detroit Tigers parody sites at myspace that I drop into for laughs. Also, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, for whatever reason, uses myspace at times. But I do not have an account at either place.

I've got enough trouble keeping up here and on the Watch. The people I wanted to keep in contact with, I have. The rest, I prefer that they can't find me. So no facebook for me. (The GF however is very keen on it. )

I don't spend a lot of time on Facebook, not at all like the forums, though I imagine some do. I find it a good way to keep tabs on family and friends, though.

I keep saying that I'm leaving Facebook to the kids -- but even they don't use it much. Magickmaker says she checks her page occasionally. I dunno if Batty even has an account (she has a friends-only LiveJournal that I think she uses a lot).

That said, I heard on the news recently that what you post on Facebook and/or LinkedIn could help you get a job, if you position yourself as an expert (and the prospective employer like your answers, of course!). I signed up for LinkedIn years ago because somebody invited me -- but I never posted much in the way of personal info and I never went back. I suppose that will have to change, if and when I ever change careers again.... <sigh>

I joined facebook today after repeated invitations from a cousin. I have not really done anything with it yet, and do not know if I ever will given the time crunch in my life right now.

I guess I signed up for an acct. ages ago and completely forgot about it. Suddenly, today, I get an email from duchy asking to be one of my friends so I punched in my email and typical password and boom there were a zillion friends from Watch, Hangar, IMs and email contacts showing as possible friends-so I clicked them all. All of a sudden I have 8 friends and counting...

Yeah, I was surprised at how many coworkers popped up when I signed up. We will have to talk about our rotten managers behind their backs.
