Hate the new newsfeed on Facebook. Hate it. Hate it to the point where I want to stop using the website.

But dammit, a lot of my real world friends and cousins are there (including a couple of dear friends who are very ill right now and cannot have visitors and Facebook is the primary way they are keeping in touch with the world). And I have a lot of really cool contacts with a lot of horse racing people and hockey people that I hate to give up.

If I can even find any of those people and contacts with the stupid new feed!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, those bastards screwed the pooch this time...

Alright, here are my own words for how I just did this. So far, it seems to be working...

For those who want their feed to show friends posts in time order, instead of by "importance."
1. Go to a friends profile page. At the top you will see two options: "Friends" and "Subscribe." Place your cursor over the "Friends" button and then scroll down to "Close Friends." Click on that to place a check mark next to it.
2. Move your cursor to the "Subscribe" button and hover over it. You are then given the choice of what sort of updates you want to receive from that friend. I have no problem with receiving all updates, so that is what I chose. But you can now customize what you see from each friend.
3. Return to your Home feed. You should now see "Close Friends" listed as an option on your Lists. Select it, and then click on the button on the top right that says "Manage List." You can add more friends to your "Close Friends" list by scrolling to the "Add/Remove Friends" option. A submenu of your friends profile pictures pop up, and you click on each picture of who you want to see all updates from. This prevents you from having to go to each friend's profile, after you visited one, to add them to the list.
4. If you find you do wish to customize what you see from a friend's posts, you can always go to their profile page later and adjust the "Subscribe" setting.
5. Your "Close Friends" list should now resemble your former newsfeed, minus the Ticker and all!

I read an article on CNN tonight that indicates Facebook is only going to get worse and worse and worse over the next few months.

Do you know that super creepy thing some people have where their wall says everyplace they go through tracking their smart phones? (Haven't these people ever heard of stalkers???)

Well, that is only a preview of the absolute violations of privacy coming our way!

Soon their will be apps through many music sites that will tell people all of the songs you listen to! And Netflix will tell all of the movies you watch! And other sites like Hulu which will tell what videos you watch! There is even some sort of food site that tells people which recipes you look at!

I am hoping all of this needless crap will be optional. I will certainly opt out of all of it.

Unfortunately, sounds like it will all be posting to our ticker from our friends who do not value their privacy.

I so wish I could figure out how to get rid of that blankety blankety ticker!

an ap which works with all major browsers other than internet explorer that forces facebook to give you the posts in chronological order rather than the top news garbage. also separates out and sorts game posts and the like under their own tabs, leaving your news feed for real posts from your friends!
