To day I had to run around and do a bunch of errands before work and found myself with an extra hour before my shift started.

So I headed to one of my favorite parks near work. it is called Island Park, and is on the Huron River in Ann Arbor near the hospitals. On one side of the road is a quiet condo complex, the other the park, complete with all sorts of bridges going to and from a bunch of islands in the river. The bridges eventually end up in a bigger park on the other side of the river.

It is a great place to relax.

Today I noticed that all of the goose eggs had recently hatched, as the parent geese were carefully escorting their new goslings around. The babies could fit in the palm of one of my hands, and I have small hands. :) They were all fuzzy, and had their baby stripes. :)

Tomorrow (depending on the weather) I think I will go back and take pictures of the little fuzzies. 8)

Looking forward to your photos, duchess!

Ever since I rediscovered the joy of photography a couple of years ago, going out and about on the weekends to take pictures has been one of my favorite activities. :) Although, lately, I've been spending a lot of time poring over online digital camera reviews, because I'm hoping to get a shiny new camera to play with this summer.

I love my digital camera. :hearts: I would never voluntarily go back to film again. :D

One unusual thing with the digital is that sometimes when the lighting is a bit strange (as when a storm is moving in), my photos have a weird Impressionist look to them. I cannot access my on-line photo albums at work (darned work filters  ) but I will put up a link to an example of that tonight or tommorow from home. :)

(It'll probably be tomorrow, I'm sort of beat tonight, and looking forward to a hot shower and bed).

Here's an example of the "Impressionist" thing going on:

Unfortunately, the storm system which was not supposed to hit until tomorrow seems to be moving in right now. Instead of sun, we have a really heavy cloud cover. :( And it is supposed to rain the next four days. :( Don't grow very fast you baby geese!

Wow, duchess, that's a bizarre effect! A digital pic shouldn't normally look so...pixelly...unless it was shot at a very low resolution.

Too bad about the storm...though the geese likely won't mind too much.
:P

Especially since when I got my camera, it was top of the line. In fact, people tried to stop me from buying it because it was "professional grade" and they said I wouldn't need one that good.   But they took my money anyway.

I did stop off at the park, and took some pics of the goslings (and parents) walking and swimming. When I get home and have more time I will see if any of them worked out. :)

Interesting, Av. A natural question would be whether or not this model of limited hunting could be successfully applied to other endangered species in other countries - though I'm thinking mainly of North American wildlife. (Of course, it would do nothing for the polar bears, as global warming will still finish them off - in the wild, anyway.)

Last Sunday, I had planned to take pictures at the park. However, on my way to the bus stop, I came upon a procession by the local Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps, so I photographed them instead. Unfortunately, the weather didn't co-operate, as a whole lotta wet snow got dumped on the activities. Of course, as soon as the ceremony was over, the skies cleared and it was sunny for the rest of the day. Sheesh. Anyway, some shots:

*shrug* I don't see any reason it couldn't work elsewhere. Just a matter of doing it. Of course, we got a lot smaller population here.

I like those last 2 pics best. That's spring for you huh?

I've often found the best photo opportunities are unplanned. That sunrise over the lake. The deer watching you from the forest. The kid laughing his head off and not paying attention to the camera.

Yeah, all that snow hit the northern part of the state, too, but thankfully missed us! :cloud:

I like the pic of the guys in kilts.
