It's 74 here and I'm attaching new hoses, watering annuals and roses, cleaning up the back yard and feeding the birds--I could stay out all day!

Winter's almost outta here. But this transition period between winter and spring isn't the best for taking pictures, as everything is a soggy mess.

Well, it is still winter here - we're having snow flurries as I type, and an hour or so to the north they are having another six inches of snow. But I hear Moonwatcher. There is a fifth season here in Michigan called Mud Season. It is a brief and very unpleasant shoulder season between winter and spring, and it consists of the frozen ground unthawing and all of the snow melting, and everything is awash in a sea of icky mud. Sounds like Moonwatcher might be having Mud Season right now?

That's the term I was looking for: Mud Season!

Indeed, I just remembered that our city's name has something to do with mud in the aboriginal tongue. A Google search reveals that "Winnipeg" is a transcription of a western Cree word meaning "muddy waters."

Yeah, mud season is just starting to rear its ugly head here. Definitely an unpleasant time to be walking around. Don't wear white or light-coloured clothes, cuz then you're just asking to get splashed!

Well, Tigers home opener is on Monday afternoon, and here on Thursday night we're having another snow storm. Anywhere from 3-6 inches depending on where in metro Detroit you live.

Would probably be better weather for the Red Wings to play outside than the Tigers.

Spring is being delayed a little longer here, too. It's been windy and cold, and we've had intermittent snow flurries.

But, I did finally go out to the park for some photography.

Hope the weather cooperates with you for the game. It was crappy yesterday - not cold, but we had snow mixed with rain. And the wind got insane during the night - it howled so much it actually woke me up.
