Went to the Henry Ford Museum today with my older son. He had to go there for a class project for one of his education school classes. Had a good time. It is an incredible place for anyone into history.

Every time I have gone there and sat on the Rosa Parks bus, I have cried. Today was no exception.

They were having a special exhibit featuring George Washington Carver. While I knew he was a great scientist I never knew what a gifted artist he was. They had one of his botanical sketches and it was so good our mouths dropped open.
Driving home from Dearborn this afternoon we passed under I-275 in Canton and on the side of the freeway underpass we saw a peregrine falcon eating a pigeon.

I know it is a species making a big come back from near extinction, and we even had one visit our bird feeder once, but I am still surprised every time I see one - even though I know they have nesting pairs who live on tall buildings' ledges in Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Grand Rapids. Now that the poisons that nearly made the birds of prey go extinct are working their way out of the ecosystem, the falcons are proving to be a very adaptable species, living and thriving in the biggest cities, eating pigeons rather than songbirds.
Big snow storm coming in tonight and all day tomorrow with very cold temps and heavy winds on Monday to blow all of the snow around.

Winter is definitely here!
