Glad to hear it Danlo. :D Today, I dyed my mohawk bright red. And this month I've been at my new job for a year, so I got my increase, which I'm very pleased with. :D Good day for me.

Congrats on the raise, Av!

Hmm, most interesting thing I did today.... I guess it was meeting some of the folks who will be staffing our new "service center" in Ohio. The firm, in its infinite wisdom, has decided to move a bunch of jobs (note that I didn't say "people" -- I said "jobs" :( ) to the Midwest to cut costs. So most of our accounting and HR positions are going, as well as Conference Services (the place to go for booking conference rooms and catering for meetings) and the switchboard for all of our US offices. The firm is sending the Conference Services and switchboard folks on a tour of all of our US offices, so that they can get a look at the conference rooms they'll be booking and so on. The new folks all seem very nice, but it sucks to know that they're getting jobs at the expense of people who've been at our firm for years.

Spent the afternoon at a neighbor's swimming pool party. Just made a reservation to spend the night of Oct. 30 in (HURK!! :gag: ) Columbus, Ohio, so I can meet Aliantha and whomever else will be at that convention... :)

I'm trying not to think about how I've scheduled a vacation in -- urk! -- Columbus.... I believe that in terms of Watchers, it'll be you, me, DLB, Romeo and Orlion. Unless someone else signed up and hasn't said.... Should be fun!

Columbus is truly puke worthy. Not only is it the home of our biggest university rival, but my husband's mean as hell self centered sister and her equally awful first husband lived there for many years and I have lots of terrible memories of visits down there. That shows you guys how much I want to get together with you all.

There ya go. :)

I'm not driving Magickmaker back to college 'til Sunday, but she's already mostly packed. Last night she was rattling around the apartment, complaining about how bored she was. Oh, she had some DVDs to watch and some manga to re-read and another tub of junk to go through, but apparently all of those pursuits are paling in comparison to the attraction of being back on campus with her friends, and having her own bedroom again. This summer, I think, was the perfect antidote to any plans she may have been vaguely considering to move back home after she finishes college in the spring. Heh, my evil plan is working perfectly... :sneak:

Spent the day doing yard work along with hub and kids. My body is really sore, but it is a "good" sore which indicates hard work. 8)

My husband and younger son went to clean up after the football tailgaters this morning at the University of Michigan golf course (which is used for parking for the Big House). They do this to raise money for my son's high school wrestling team - people come out and clean up and the booster club gets paid for their work. They said they saw some pretty gross things - the worst being a package of meat tied up in a tree. No one was looking up - until blood started dripping on people. :gag:

Ew.

Went back to work today after more than a week of vacation. Took me half a day to sort through all my e-mails, even though I'd looked at most of them on the Blackberry already.

Went to the endocrinologist today. The Grave's Disease/thyroid issues are doing fine - but due to some other symptoms she wants me to go to the regular doctor and be tested for another autoimmune disease called lupus. **sigh**

Like the Grave's Disease and chronic obstructive sleep apnea were not enough?

She is hoping the weird rash I have had on my cheeks and hairline for a few years now is only age spots, but she thinks it is most likely a lupus butterfly mask. :(

Here's hoping you find answers that promote wellness soon, Duchess.

Today is the day we are permitted to inform everyone else other than family, who have already been informed, that Beorn has made it to the semi-finalist round of the National Merit Scholarship competition. Essay and application for the Finalist round has been submitted. Now we wait until February...

Hopefully he makes it. :) 8)

I made it back in the day but the college I chose to attend did not give out National Merit Scholarships. Hopefully Beorn has more sense than I did at age 17. :D
