Today I am trying to recover from a very stressful and vexing week. A bag of narcotics vanished last Thursday, and I was the last person who admitted to having them or seeing them. So I got to talk to the police a lot. On Wednesday night I had to give a written statement, and that had me very stressed out indeed. On Thursday the bag of narcotics was found locked up in the outpatient pharmacy safe, right where it had been for the week it was "missing", and right where it was supposed to be. The pharmacist I had given the bag to - and who was denying every seeing the bag - had put them away in the correct place. The nurses who had given me the sealed bag had labeled it with the wrong patient's name.

So it was a week from hell.

I did not know whether to laugh or cry when they told me it was found. After all of that stress, and being investigated by the federal police for something that was not actually even really missing?

I hope someday, when the nerves (and colon) settle down, I can look back at this and feel amusement over watching the service chief, supervisors, and cops crawling through the garbage (which is changed twice a day) every day for nearly a week, in the odd hopes that the bag of narcotics had ended up in there a week ago.

Holy cow, Duchess. 8O Glad they found the stuff!

After a *very* quiet week, today's been rockin' and rollin'. Scheduled a meeting for Monday with about 14 partners (trying to find a hole in 14 lawyers' calendars at the same time is like herding cats...). Weighed in at my WW meeting and then went to lunch (yes, that is, in fact, in the proper order!) to celebrate a co-worker's last day; sat next to a woman I'd never met before, who kept encroaching on my space, even after I physically scooted my chair over so she wasn't, y'know, practically sitting in my lap. Coordinated schedules for tomorrow with Magickmaker (speaking of herding cats) -- she's coming to DC with a group from her college and we're going to sneak away to see the Jim Henson exhibit at the Smithsonian. Oh yeah, and I'm green here now.

Dang duchy! Tam and I can't imagine how that would have felt, you are such a gracious person you shouldn't have had to go through that. If I was californiababy I'd be in lockup for knocking this idiot pharmacist out.

It's another beautiful day in New Mexico, the start of the International Balloon Fiesta with over 620 entrants. We all slept in hard today and didn't see the ascension but I plan to drive Grace over there early tomorrow. She is absolutely wild about balloons!

On a more serious note I'm stressing over the Lady Tam, she just dropped a large plastic bottle of cooking oil off a high shelf unto her forehead, almost the same type of injury as the suitcase. She swears she's OK, but I don't know---the signs of these thing show up later---here's hoping she can make it to her operation in one piece.--*whew* I'll tell you one thing-it takes forever to clean up a huge puddle of corn oil...

Ah, duchess, nothing like lame co-workers to make your day, huh? Some of mine truly test my patience.

That balloon festival sounds fabulous, danlo...but let me just say that there's no way anyone will get me to go up in one of those things. Not unless I had a parachute on me. You know, just in case.

And I hope Lady Tam is better - sorry she's getting hit with all this misfortune.

Nothing interesting has happened to me, but the daily receptionist I work with came down with a bladder infection so she's out for the whole week, which means I'll be pulling double duty - filling in for her at the front desk while also handling my other chores. She's also pregnant and due in 3 weeks. So when she comes back next week - if she comes back - there will be very little time for her to train her replacement before she goes away again. And since her job is a term position that expires in November anyway, she may not in fact come back at all. Which would make me sad, because I've worked with her for nearly a year now and gotten to know her well.

I am afraid of heights, so no deal if I had to actually ride in a balloon!

But to see hundreds of them taking off in the intensely blue New Mexico morning sky - every color and shape imaginable - and see them floating towards the Sandia Crest - the huge red rock cliffs to the east of the city - now that would be something well worth seeing. :cloud:

Having a peaceful day at home on the first start of a nine day break from work. :)

I have been catching up on 'business' so I can actually take the rest of the days off relaxing as much as possible. :) So I have been doing laundry, mopping the floor, throwing dinner in the crock pot, etc. I have also moved my blog from AOL (which is cutting off the blogs at the end of the month) to another server. Since I have had that blog for five years, the whole thing has been making me nervous, but everything seems to have moved just fine. . I made chocolate chip bread, which was heavenly (the recipe is down in the Cantina), and fully intend to take a long walk this afternoon after I pick up my son from soccer practice. And I read the first chapter of Tombs of Atuan, so I can start thinking about it and try to get the chapter up tomorrow or Sunday. :)

Nine day break? Sounds sweet!

Our Thanksgiving long weekend starts tomorrow. Or today, right after work, heh.
