Heh, thanks Duchess and Avatar! Don't worry, I have plenty of dirty tricks to get, and keep the ball :D

My brother in law is about 8 years older than me, and about 8 times fitter, so I know it's possible - but it does get harder as one gets older.

Hey guys. First time I've logged in from home here since setting up the new-to-me laptop... :)

So how does Windows 7 feel on your new machine, ali?
(I assume all new computers have Win7 installed.)

Heh, today was the first time I checked my inbox at work since December. Only had 68 new e-mails. Not too crazy.

Well, it's Magickmaker's old laptop, so it has Vista. She bought herself a MacBook so she gave me her Dell.

Just reread your last post, MM. I got a netbook at Christmas which *does* have Win7. It's fine so far, but I don't use the netbook for much other than traveling. And...you only got 68 e-mails in *two months*??? Lordy, I get that in a couple of days at work! I'm hoping there will be an easy way for me to clean out my inbox when I get back from sabbatical. Like, maybe they turned the durned thing off for me entirely....

Have been hearing good things about Win7. But I'll almost certainly stick with XP until I get a new machine.

From what I've read and heard, Win7 is the best Windows ever. For the past month, I've been gradually backing up all my files in preparation for installing Win7. But I'm taking it easy; won't be April at least before I take the plunge. I just don't want to wait until I've upgraded before trying out the new OS. (Any PC upgrades won't happen for me until at least summer; likely later than that.)

Netbooks...never used one, but probably not the best platform to assess Windows 7 (or any OS).

I think my relatively sparse inbox is due to a good spam filter at work. Also, I don't interact much with my colleagues via e-mail. If I need to talk to someone, or someone needs to see me, it's usually face-to-face. The other thing is that I'm very diligent now about pruning my inbox. Up until a few years ago, I didn't even know I had my own account on the work PC - I share it with the receptionist, so I had simply been using her account. Then I learned that our IT guy had in fact set up a separate account for me, and that its inbox by that time had accumulated over 500 e-mails. Heh.

 I'm good about keeping my inbox relatively small at work, but I tend to save everything in folders, so my box is pretty big. And we have a good spam filter, too. We just have a lot of people in a building that stretches the length of a city block, to say nothing of our other offices. So I use e-mail a lot. Which is a good thing because I tend to forget stuff if it's not written down in front of me...

Haha, we've only got a small office, but we email and skype each other an awful lot. And we have an online task system that integrates with our email. I too rely a lot on what is written down.

Don't suffer much from spam though, because my email address isn't really publically available. But the sheer volume of internal mail makes up for it. (I know for a fact that my boss has 124 unread emails just from me. (The man has more email accounts than anybody I've ever known though. )

The way we use it is just like a glorified MSN messenger or something...a real time text chat. You can use it for phone calls or video calls too though.

I see. I'm guessing skype has certain advantages over MSN, otherwise you wouldn't be using it.
