Yay for back-to-school time, Duchess! :sky: Both my kids are back at Hollins. Batty's a senior and Magickmaker is a sophomore. Did I mention here at the Hangar that Magickmaker is Batty's RA this year? And that Batty picked the room directly across the hall from the RA's room? Magickmaker took a SuperSoaker back to school with her -- y'know, just in case.

Both girls will be going to Italy with the college choir in January. They got the price tag yesterday. $2000 each. They've already approached their dad about helping out, tho, and he said he can kick in about half the cost.   And the choir will continue to do some fundraising this fall, so there may be a refund in our future.

As for the most interesting thing *I've* done today, I called Malik an idiot in the Tank. Well, okay, not in so many words.... He posted some blather about how every teenager has sex. So I posted a portion of Magickmaker's resume. (That kid hasn't had *time* to have sex...)

Well, ali, I've read Magicmaker's posts on the subject of virginity and I admire and respect her stance. Her unwillingness to succumb to peer pressure and screw the first guy she meets is the kind of refreshing attitude that ought to be applauded, yet I am fully aware that there a number of Watchers who view being a virgin as a deviant condition, almost akin to an illness.

That's another reason (among others) why I feel disillusioned about KW. The bullies, the antagonists, have taken over the playground. And no one thinks it is wrong.

That's one of the reasons why I keep venturing into the Tank. *Some*body's gotta call them on their crap....

It's actually been better in the Tank lately. <ali bows to Av>

And thanks for the kind words about my kid, Moonwatcher. :)

Amen, Moonwatcher. The bullies have taken over over there in many of the forums, not just the Tank.

And there is nothing at all wrong with being picky over who you have sex with, either.   Or in being celebate if there is no one worthy on your life. I am very picky about such things! So I guess according to the Watch people I would be a loser because of it.

(Of course there is nothing wrong with not being picky, either, provided you know how to protect yourself and your partner. It is a really personal type of decision.)

Got to watch my younger son play soccer today. Last year he played junior varsity, and he was very proud when he made varsity as a sub this year. Well after that hot-as-anything-you-can-imagine tournament, he has been starting every game since. :) He is very geeked up about it, and it was fun watching him this afternoon, even though his team lost 3-0 in a very weird game.

I am hoping that it will be sunny the next home game I can go to, so I can take pictures. The coach will let me go up on the balcony of the little two story time keeper's shed, so hopefully I can get some good shots up here. 8)

Stiff and sore after running in a 10 mile road race this morning but did it under 80 minutes so I was quiet happy with that

Went home for lunch today, only to have the power go out. Hope the power comes back soon, or there will be a mess in the freezer to greet me later, heh.

Urgh, hopefully it was just a blip, Moonwatcher, and came right back on after you went back to work.

Nice going on the race, Cleburne! And speaking of physical exploits, congrats to your son, Duchess!

Nothing exciting here today, sorry. Move along, move along.... Oh wait, I did get to edit some PowerPoint slides for one of my attorneys this morning. I had to figure out how to convert a page of a Word document to a graphic (it's easy if you make it a .pdf first. ;) ) and then got to play with some text boxes with the little pointer thingies attached. That was kinda fun.

Bah, there's nothing to it. If you can use Word, you can use powerpoint. :D

After all of the years I have been an Amazon cutomer, they finally screwed up an order. Instead of sending me the paperback urban fantasy I had ordered, they sent me an expensive 8gig MP3 player. So on my day off tomorrow, I will have to figure out what the return policy is, and send the expensive little toy back.

I have been losing weight for the past year or so, since I started having so many colon problems. Losing weight is good, but not because of illness. Most of my clothes do not fit right anymore, and I have dug to the back of the closet and bottom of the drawers to get out really old things I was wearing years ago, before I had my second son - who will be 16 in November. Being low on pants, I dug out my old old favorite pair of jeans, which I have not been able to get into since I got pregnant. They were buried in a drawer, and I didn't even remember still having them. Sure enough, they are freaking loose. :box: I need to start hitting garage sales, as I do not feel comfortable buying new clothes with the economy so bad these days. I do not know whether to be happy for finally dropping the 40 or so pounds of baby weight after all of these years, or to be sad for losing it because I have been sick (again, it the sick for so long that is bad, rather than the weight loss - the reason rather than the result), or frustrated because I have so few clothes that actually fit. The shirts are OK, as they are just comfortable and baggy. The pants and skirts are a different problem. :|

edited to add:
The Amazon thing is easy. A few clicks of the mouse, and they even gave me a mailing label with free shipping to send it back. :D

Now I only need to figure out how to replace a big chunk of my wardrobe in the middle of thsi one state (Michigan) depression.

Dang...I would've been very tempted to keep that mp3 player. :P

You know what? I don't think I've ever been to a garage sale. Not sure what that says about me...

I'm at work right now. Yep, I agreed to work the night shift, because no one else could. It's a long story. I normally don't mind working at night...except that I had already put in a full 8 hour shift during the day. Won't be getting outta here until 11:00 PM. I'll either crash when I get home or stay up til 3:00 in the morning.

Oh Lord, I hate having to work doubles. In my case, that usually works out to be an afternoon shift followed by a midnight shift due to a call-in on midnights. And I can never manage to get to sleep right away, as I have to destress for an hour or two after work before I can sleep, no matter how tired. :(

Poor Moonwatcher. :( Hang in there, buddy! :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

A half hour to go. The evening has been all right. Had a full slate of meetings in our building, but people were well-behaved.

Duchess, I suspect that my double shift is nothing compared to yours in terms of stress and exhaustion. I mean, you work in a place where you see all kinds of crazy things that would probably make me faint. :faint:
