When I woke up this morning there was no snow. It must have all melted.

Last night's weather brought down a tree in my yard, which took out our phone line.

Luckily the phone company came out this afternoon to make a temporary repair, so we have our internet connection back!

Danlo, I am not sure when you will be leaving on your trip. Please have a good trip, and give your mother (who I remember as being elegant and beautiful) a huge hug from us! ******************************************************

Thanks Ms. M. trying to look at the bright side in all things. Weather great here as usual. Need to do laundry and buy new luggage--gave away the 50 year old Samsonite at the last yard sale! Dillards is having a sale on some nice stuff (but don't you think everyone's baggage looks exactly alike on the carosel? ). Little Elora's doing great--talking up a bluestreak may say her first real word any second now. Watched a cool-weird movie that Cail recommended to me on the Watch last night, Stay with Ewan MacGregor, Ryan Gosling and Naomi Watts. Need to walk Jojo!

Take care all and go !!! *****

Not only does everyone's luggage look the same on the carousel, but the first time we tried to distinguish ours by tying a pink ribbon on it, we discovered lots of other similar-looking suitcases with pink ribbons on it. "Does the walker choose the path, or the path the walker?"<i></i>

I bought a bottle of the most garishly colored nail polish I could find and painted my initials on my suitcase, right by the handle. That worked.

Only one more day of my break from work. I really do not wish to go back. I am consoling myself that next week is a three day work week, though,

Danlo - I hope that you and Lady Tam and your daughter have the most wonderful of trips! Will you be getting together with Fisty? ******************************************************

Attention all Journeymen!!! Let the wine flow like water!

And now, reflecting my mood, reflecting the shutdown of the Watch, reflecting the current world state of affairs-
Ball Of Confusion (That's What The World Is Today)
The Temptations

People moving out,
People moving in,
Why, because of the color of their skin,
Run, run, run, but you just can't hide.

An eye for an eye,
Tooth for a tooth,
Vote for me and I'll set you free,
Rap on, brother, rap on.

Well, the only person talking about loving thy brother is the preacher,
And it seems nobody's interested in learning, but the teacher,
Segregation, demonstration, intergration, determination, aggravation, humiliation,
Obligation to our nation.

Ball of confusion,
That's what the world is today, hey.

The sale of pills is at an all time high,
Young folks walk with their heads in the sky,
The cities aflame in the summertime,
And oh the beat goes on.

Evolution, revolution, gun control, sound of soul-shooting rockets to the moon,
Kids growing up too soon,
Politicians say, "More taxes will solve everything,"
The band played on.

So, round and around and around we go,
Where the world's headed, nobody knows

Oh, Great Googamooga,
Can't you hear me talking to you,
Just a ball of confusion,
That's what the world is today, hey.

Fear in the air, tension everywhere,
Unemployment rising fast,
The Beatles new record's a gas,
And the only safe place to live,
Is on an Indian reservation,
The band played on.

Eve of destruction, tax deduction,
City inspectors, bill collectors, mod clothes in demand,
Population out of hand, suicide, too many bills,
Hippies moving to the hills,
People all over the world are shouting, "End the war!",
And the band played on.

Great Googamooga,
Can't you hear me talking to you,
Just a Ball Of Confusion,
That's what the world is today, yea-yea,
Just A Ball of Confusion,
Tell ya that's what the world is today, yea-yea,
Just a Ball Of Confusion, oh!

I am glad you will be seeing Fisty. He is the genuine article and the real deal. So many people pretend to be your friend, when all they are really doing is using you for whatever reason and lying to you so much it's a wonder they are not blue in the face. But Fist is genuine. Someone you can trust and who really is your friend and really does care about what happens to you.

This might be a rough trip, given your mother's health situation. I am so relieved to know that Fisty will be there for you. ******************************************************

I had a bit of a weird experience this afternoon.

I went to this chamber music concert in Ann Arbor. I had heard that the musicians would be performing a piece from a composer who lives in Ann Arbor, Michael Dougherty, but had not really thought much about it.

The composer bounced up on stage when it was time for his music to be played. He explained his composition, and had the musicians play bits of it, explaining the meaning behind the various themes and bits of music. That was seriously cool.

I watched him as he came down from the stage, as I was wondering where he had come bouncing out from.

It turned out that was from his seat -- right behind mine.

So I got to hear this piece of very complicated music - difficult to play and difficult to listen to because it was so challenging - while sitting right in front of the guy who wrote it.

It just felt weird, knowing he was probably seeing my reaction to the music that he wrote, as I watched musicians performing it, and as I listened to it.

Life is just plain bizarre sometimes.
