OK, I know it gets cold in the Midwest in the winter, I lived here in 1994 when the cold snap started around January 4-6 and until around February 1 the daytime temp highs never got above about 20F. But this is bizarre, on Monday thru Wednesday of this past week low temps were in the upper 20s and the highs in the 30s or more (for example when running errands I would seldom have my jacket zipped all the way up), but then yesterday the low temp in late evening dropped to around 5F, the daytime high was around 30 and that happened early in the day. And today Saturday is supposed to be colder lows in the minus ranges and daytime highs in the teens, Sunday about the same, and Monday like Friday. Winter is not over at all. taraswizard

Yes, I just let the dog out while wearing sandals, a skimpy nightie, and a bathrobe. I thought my legs were going to turn into long fat icicles out there! BRRRRRRRRRRRR!! It's cold in the Midwest this morning! ******************************************************

How so?? Happened in what way??

Hope everyone is having a great St. Patrick's Day weekend. I went down to Muncie for another visit to Ball State University with my older son; I have also been trying to fight off a bad cold for the past few days...we're all hanging in there, though. ******************************************************

It's been slow around here and I have been very busy with RL, so I haven't been checking as often as usual.

Hope all is well with everyone. "Does the walker choose the path, or the path the walker?"<i></i>

All is well here. The first little flowers of spring (snow crocuses) are blooming, though it is still pretty chilly.

We are all doing well...my older son will have to pick out which college to attend soon! He is all excited because he will be finished with half of his classes (the AP classes) in early May, and he will be half time student until the end of May, when he should be able to finish school. They let the seniors finish early if they have good grades and good attendance.

The little guy's knee healed much faster than the docs thought it could, so he is back to wrestling and socccer.

Calibaby and I have been busy planning our vacation in June. We are planning a trip with our older son in mind - it will be his graduation gift. We will be doing all sorts of things to make him happy - baseball games in Chicago (both Sox and Cubbies), water parks and boat tours in Wisconsin, visiting the King Tut exhibit in Chicago, and visiting Frank Lloyd Wright's farm/estate in a little town in Wisconsin.

Work has been very busy lately, but I am hanging in there.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Well, I spent all day yesterday at the doctor's office. Mr. Sunshine had someone accidentally drop a 45 pound free weight on his toe at school Thursday night. It turns out that it was badly bruised, but not broken.

Bigredbulldog has sort of (finally!) made up his mind on where he is going to school, and that will be architecture college at Ball State University. He has until May 1 to let the universities all know where he will be going to school, so he might change his mind.

I'm ready to go take a nap now. Hope everyone else is doing very well indeed today! ******************************************************

Hey everyone!
Hope all is well with you guys.
Life is as usual - CRAZY!!!!!!!!
And, just to add to the fray, we decided to get a new dog after the 16 yr old Shih-tzu went to doggie heaven...
we got a beautiful austrailian shepard (actually has the markings of a rottweiller, but longer hair). He is a great dog, but being only 4 months old & 30 lbs is a handfull (or 2)
He is teething - no crying in the middle of the night, but he chews on EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!
My 7 yr old is doing great in school (1st grade) and looking forward to his 3rd yr of soccer starting up again in June
Great news about bigred Duchess - I also started out wanting to be an architect - ended up in construction, working 70-80 hrs a week......not sure where the road curved on me there......:;
Anyway, I hope you all have a great Easter/spring break coming up!

Did you have a feast to celebrate?

I am having a nice (if wet) spring weekend. I just planted some snow peas in my garden (they like cold and wet weather) and trimmed back the raspberry bushes I planted last year. I was told that if I trimmed them back to knee length at this time of year, they would produce berries in abundance.

My chives, garlic chives, spearmint, ornage mint, green onions, and garlic are all coming back up in my garden from last year.

Tons and tons and tons of flowers are blooming right now. My allergies are pretty bad, but its worth it to be surrounded by so much beauty. ******************************************************
