I am getting closer to eating real food. For lunch I had vegetable soup. 8) Lord, did my body ever crave veggies.

I also finally!!! got my 2008 vacation and holiday schedule for work. We cannot really leave town as an entire family while our dog is so elderly and feeble, but my hub and I are thinking of sneaking off somewhere for a long weekend alone together, and leaving our univerity junior in charge while we are gone. But shall it be the Chicago Blues Fest or a mountain cabin in a lovely state park in Kentucky? decisions, decisions...

Yesterday I got to weigh in 150 or so kids for a sateliite weigh-in for today's MYWAY organization's state championships in Lansing.

Today the most interesting thing has been going grocery shopping. :) The quiet day is welcome. :D I did buy myself a bucket of flowers. When spring comes I will plant them outside, but in the meantime they brighten up my kitchen. 8)

On Saturday I went to the art gallery. Hadn't been there in a while. Glad I went - it was a very stimulating occasion.

The highlight was an exhibition of the works of photographer Ed Burtynsky. These aren't your run-of-the-mill album size pictures, but large format photographs that dominate a whole wall. The images are also suitably monumental, typically industrial scenes: massive shipyards in China, huge rock quarries in India, the enormous oil fields of Texas, etc. Man's immense machines and earth-shaping activities achieve a certain kind of aesthetic beauty in Burtynsky's photographs, but his images also convey the uneasy coexistence between technology and the environment.

The amount of detail in his images is stunning: no mere consumer digital camera could do the job. You'd probably need the equivalent of 100 megapixel resolution (all right, at least 80) to capture the same amount of visual information as in one of Burtynsky's photos.

Btw, I posted this here because I wasn't sure where else it might be appropriate. There is no thread for discussing photography, but I see there is an art thread (of a kind) in Bardo's Collection.

I took half a trip yesterday afternoon, went to the beach, wandered round the garden, and just generally fried my brains for 6 or 7 hours. :D (I try take some sort of psychadelic once a year to blow away the old cobwebs. :D ) As a result, everything I did was very very interesting. ;)

Went shopping for a friend's bridal shower gift today. Took my younger son to lunch. It is my first attempt to eat a salad since I got sick a couple of weeks ago, so we will see how the lunch agreed with my body. We then picked up his varsity coat. Since it is not much above freezing today, it was cold enough for him to wear the coat.

Now I am going to go take a nap. :cloud:

This new board is going to take some getting used too!!! But I think I'm going to like it. 8)

Anyway, yeah Duchy, his so called parents wanted to literally dig him up and take him back to Alabama, where he knew nothing but hate and ridicule all his life. There was no way I was going to let that happen :| So, we made them take us to court. After three weeks, we won, well...I should say Isaiah won. His will pulled alot of weight with the judge (I really liked her, she used to be a human rights activist in the 70's...hehe). Anyway, their fundie fanatical attitudes did not sit well with her at all. They wanted to come to our property and see his grave, but I refused to let them. Maybe that was wrong of me, I don't know for sure, but something inside me just couldn't let those people anywhere near him. Hate literally drips off of them.

The leg is better...I don't have to use the brace or the crutches anymore! :sky:

Glad to hear it Furls. And I agree...better to keep that sort of negativity out of your life if you can.
