I have made it to Part III of three parts.
Part I is traveling around visiting sacred caves near where they live. (You might be glad to know Jonadalar had to make his stream in one of them. I thought it was TMI personally.
)
Part II is traveling further away to visit (and revisit) more sacred caves. (Wolf pooped in one. I thought that was TMI, too.
)
If I have to read the Mother Song one more time I might throw up.
I am not sure what Part III will be about yet, but it seems to be set more at home and environs again.
In the first part, Ayla's daughter is just a baby. Lots more biological spill action.
In Part II she is about pre-school age and she sounds like a delightful child, intelligent and brave from the bit we see of her. Sound like she is about six in Part III. Wish we could see a lot more of her, maybe in this part of the book.
Menolly - the book is long - several hundred pages - but it goes quickly - especially when you skim the Mother Song.
