Called 'Thumb drives' or 'mini drives', they are portable removable solid state devices holding largish amounts of non-volatile memory, typically configured to plug into a USB port. Handiest gadgets introduced in the last few years. I bought a 256 MB one on sale last fall that I thought I would have minimal use of, and now I wish I had another one and/or a bigger one 512 MB would be cool. Good for storing largish video files or any really. They're handy and if you have one you'll think of uses for it. taraswizard

I've got a 1GB thumb drive that I carry on my keychain for work. They issued me a 2GB one a couple of weeks ago but it's sitting unopened in the desk since I haven't come near to filling up the first one yet.

: I'd love a flashdrive with more capacity. I carry around a 64mb one wherever I go, and since my work is pretty much exclusively in text, it's usually more than enough, but sometimes i just want more space. : Can't really justify the expense though, even though they're not too bad these days. (The one I have was free.)
