Very good news, at last!

So it will be Wizard of Earthsea (in Holland titled as Powers on Earthsea) and Tombs of Atuan. Skipping farthest shore might be good news too. If it is a success they can continue with Shore/Tehanu and Dragonfly/Other Wind. The first time I heard of the project I thougt it would be just the first trilogy (suitable for children), but now (on what base?) there is hope for the second trilogy too.

Well anyway, happy to hear the series are to come !

I hope they do the books justice. I am always afraid of movies that are "based" on books. Even as grand as LOTR is, events and people were still changed and left out. That said, I'm looking forward to this, with a wary eye of course, yet a bit disappointed that they are stopping with Tombs. Shore has Lebannen and ORM EMBAR!! Oh well, can't have everyting I guess.

If it does turn out good, I hope they do continue on with the story. Can't wait to see Ged and Yevaud!! *********

Isn't she, like, WAY too old for Tenar in TOA?? ____________
Highdrake's mastery of spells and sorcery was not much greater than his pupil's, but he had clear in his mind the idea of something very much greater, the wholeness of knowledge. And that made him a mage.

As the article syas she will be playing the role of Thar.

Just a copy paste quote of the the tombs:

...the tall, dry-voiced priestess Thar had told her till she knew the words by heart, and she recited them: "Yes, I know. At the death of the One Priestess of the Tombs of Atuan, the ceremonies of burial and purification are completed within one month by the moon's calendar. After this certain of the Priestesses and Wardens of the Place of the Tombs go forth across the desert, among the towns and villages of Atuan, seeking and asking. They seek the girl-child who was born on the night of the Priestess' death. When they find such a child, they wait and they watch. The child must be sound of body and of mind, and as it grows it must not suffer from rickets nor the smallpox nor any deformity, nor become blind. If it reaches the age of five years unblemished, then it is known that the body of the child is indeed the new body of the Priestess who died. And the child is made known to the Godking in Awabath, and brought here to her Temple and instructed for a year. And at the year's end she is taken to the Hall of the Throne and her name is given back to those who are her Masters, the Nameless Ones: for she is the nameless one, the Priestess Ever Reborn."

Ah. Thanks. Maybe I'll read a little more thoroughly next time! ____________

I'm just hoping that they'll do a halfway decent job with it...and since chances are very high it will air while I am at work (I work permanent off shifts), that they release it on DVD very quickly. ******************************************************

Yes Shawn was ok as Bobby in Xmen but he doesn't look the part of Ged. Kristin Kreuk, who plays Lana in Smallville, has a kind of strange "faraway " look in her eyes so she could be ok. *****
