Oh baby.

Erikson warns his readers upfront that this is essentially book one of two, and sorta-kinda apologizes for ending with a cliffhanger. But the cliffhanger didn't bother me all that much, since every freakin' book in this series ends, for me, with more questions than answers.

I don't want to give anything away at this point. But I will say that Erikson actually explains stuff in this book. And the last 30 pages were *amazing*.

I have heard that he starts to explain stuff in this one - makes me look forward to reading it.

*Goes off grumbling about the unjustifiable and inexplicable gap in UK and US publishing dates.*

I am right there grumbling with ya, Duchess. I would *much* rather have been able to buy it stateside, instead of paying in GBP and then waiting two weeks for airmail delivery.

Luci said she'd finished it, too. Hoping she stops by, either here or at KW, so we can compare notes...

I got an email that my copy is finally on the way (I waited for the US release). I know that Highdrake enjoyed it - will try to read at least part of it on my next weekend off, which will not happen for alas two weeks.

I enjoy the more action oriented books in the series to the ones that are more philosophying ones, so am hoping this one will be somewhat action packed.

Had to call in to work today (that sleep study has completely nuked my system) so I started reading. So I have been reading fifty or so pages at a time, nod off for an hour or two, and then read some more. The nodding off is not a negative remark about the book - just that I am so exhausted I cannot stay awake today.

I'm a couple of hundred pages in. Looks like he is already building/working towards another of his bigass convergences. I really liked that he dedicated the book to Stephen R. Donaldson.

Oh hell...no quick reply in here. Will fix.

I didn't remember the dedication. I'm still reeling over the fact that we got it earlier in SA than you did there. (We get the UK editions...and it's been available since before christmas.)
