Unidaas, still having visions of the deep past from both Tiste Andii spirit in his shadow and draconic blood in his body, and horrified beyond measure by what has happened to Rhulad, who has taken him as a personal slave, tries to kill himself in the sea, but the Wyval whose blood he carries rescues him.
Rhulad faces down his entire people, and they pay homage to him as Emperor.
The Letharii treaty delegation, led by the rather dumb crown prince and the much brighter chief eunuch finally arrives, in the midst of the showdown between Rhulad and the other Edur.
Once the others agree that he is Emperor, Rhulad's first act is to demand Mayen, his brother Fear's fiance, for his own. Everyone is revolted by this break of faith and tradition, particularly his brother Trull (who has always had massive doubts about Rhulad even before all of this started) and to Myaen herself, who is filled with horror, but accepts it as her duty to her people.
Udinaas (whose name I can never spell correctly
) warns Seren what has happened, and tells her to warn to treaty delegation in turn, that the Edur have a tyranical new leader who is dead set on war with Lethar.
