Well, I'd love to see their justification for "counter-terrorism" but otherwise it sounds like a fantastic advance for early detection of disease.

The counter terrorism application of this is something I can actually understand.

This gadget detects tiny tiny tiny (too tiny for most people, myself included, to really understand other than in an intellectual way ) amounts of chemicals. They have been working on such critters for a long time to use for detecting chemical and biological weapons.

It would be a snap to apply this sort of technology for all sorts of dieases, once they can pin point the chemical markers for them. Finding the chemical markers for each specific medical condition would be the hardest part...

So, they could tell whether a person had been working with dangerous or dubious chemicals? An awful lot of perfectly legit construction workers, chemists, lab techs ect are gonna get pulled over for nothing.

Well, I do not think they have enough of these little guys to put in every state trooper's car yet.

But maybe someday if someone is riding around in the subway system of Chicago or another major city who is passing around small pox germs, it could catch that.
