He looks perfect, doesn't he? I was so excited to see some high quality performers (like Kidman) in the cast. It seems that the studio is taking this film quite seriously if they are lining up talent like that. ******************************************************

So the Golden Compass movies's first installment will be coming out this December. Does everyone know that at the insistence of Executive Producer, Nicole Kidman, the religious references have been removed from the movies?

For myself, I've not read the books, and this is a movie series I don't think I want to see without reading the books first.

The books are rather harsh towards organized religion, in that a monolithic church can have too much power which can be used for evil. I have heard rumors that this has been neutered in the film? Beyond that, I do not know?
