I am finally reading Dragon Harper. Not bad, so far.
But I have only just arrived at the Harper Hall...

OK, finished Dragon Harper. It was better than I expected. Except for the Koriana theme, I would place this squarely in YA with the other Harper Hall books.

Knowing Pern's agricultural society and honor system, I have to ask what was it about

With the Harpers being in my mind a force for negotiation and peace and education on Pern - it just killed me

I love the Harper Hall. This book just....ugh. ugh. ugh. ugh.

I think that the only way I might ever be able to deal with Todd again is to pretend that his Pern is a different Pern, one of many in the multiverses, rather than the same planet that his mother wrote so many heart felt books about. Two similar worlds in different universes!

On the other hand, while cleaning and moving book cases last weekend, I found my three Crystal Singer books. Now those are books well worth a reread. :mrgreen:

I plan on rereading those and my Arthur C. Clarke classics over the course of the summer. :mrgreen:

That's a pretty uneven series, actually - depending on who the cowriters are. The first book (the Ship Who Sang) is really good, and one other, (the name of which escapes me, but I think might be The Ship Who Searched). Some of the other books are mediocre, going on down to the completely forgettable.

yes, the good one is The Ship Who Searched, and you can read the first half of the book for free .

I just read TSWS the other day. Think I've read most of the "Ship Who..." series. Awesome idea really. And yes, the Crystal singers books are great. My favourite are the Tower&Hive ones though. I just read the prequels to those recently as well.
