Hard as Nails is the third book in the very hard boiled detective novels about Joe Kurtz, former PI, parolee, and master at survival.

This novel is set in the fall, just before and at Halloween.

Joe, as usual, has troubles.

The books begins with him being shot in the head (not a major spoiler, as it happens right away). He survives, but things sort of go downhill for him from there.

Both local Mob families want to employ him to find a serial killer who is preying upon associates of both families. A former lover returns to his life, and complicates things greatly...many groups from the prison still want Joe's head...and a legendary hitman is said to be on his way to Buffalo...

Danlo would have problems with the psycho clown scene from this book!!! ******************************************************
