Shadowmarch

Tad Williams evidentally has been quite busy lately.
In addition to his standalone novel, War of the Flowers, which is due out this month, he is also in the depths of writing a new fantasy trilogy, which will be called Shadowmarch. For sample chapters, please go to:

Shadowmarch

Actually, this started as an e-book. A very admirable effort. I balked when I had to start paying a monthly fee. I'm sure this idea may become successful in the future. Perhaps if they'd simply charge the cost of a regular hard cover book.

This book caught the corner of my eye when I was in Hastings yesterday and couldn't find the books by Philip Rothfuss and Greg Bear I was looking for--maybe I'll by this instead... :|

I think this series might be one book away from completion? :? If so, Williams is pretty reliable about getting books out, however, so probably no wait for years with no end in sight, like other authors who will remain nameless. :) I've been wanting to read it, but have been waiting for word that the series is complete first. :)

I may just start this series after I finish A Dance with Dragons--poor Tad is so underrated and so overshadowed by Martin now, believe it or not Williams was an inspiration for Martin, as George said at an appearance in Redwood City, California a few weeks ago:
Tad’s fantasy series, The Dragonbone Chair and the rest of his famous four-book trilogy, was one of the things that inspired me to write my own seven-book trilogy. I read Tad and was impressed by him, but the imitators that followed – well, fantasy got a bad rep for being very formulaic and ritual. And I read The Dragonbone Chair and said, My god, they can do something with this form, and it’s Tad doing it. It’s one of my favorite fantasy series.
