In the books, my favorite character was Eowyn, because she had such an interesting and compelling "arc."

In the films, I'm kinda torn, because all of them seem so interesting and compelling. My fiancee actually cried over Boromir, while (in FOTR especially) I found Saruman fascinating.

Then, there was the awesomeness that was Gollum! "GOD created Man in his own image. Man, being a gentleman, returned the courtesy." -Voltaire

Whoopee a Tolkien forum!!!!

Favorite character? Well... I've had a crush on Aragorn since I was 12 or so...and Viggo Mortenson in so hot (if a little greasy) in that role!

All around favorite character though would have to be Sam. He just makes you want to give him a hug almost every single time he opens his mouth. Followed by Gandalf, because he's just so cool! The thing I love most about Gandalf is that even though he's a maiar with phenominal cosmic power, he isn't too lofty in his position to care deeply about a few simple Hobbits. How many angels go to mortals birthday parties just because they like them? Be still heart

ITA! Welcome b&b! And now Danlo looked in that direction, too. He remembered that snowy owls mate in the darkest part of deep winter, and so along with this beautiful white bird perched in a tree a hundred feet away, he turned to face the sea as he watched and waited.

Ahira, Ahira, he called out silently to the sky. Ahira, Ahira

Hi

New Here!!!
Big fan of the Book & Movie although prefer the Book!

My Fave character(s) would have to be ....errrr...Love Aragorn, think Eowyn is fantastic and admire her, think Pippin is really funny, I like them all! Part for the the orcs, Sauron etc - thought that may have been obvious!

My first post!!!!!!!!!
Hope its ok!

Have not finished the all the books yet. Seen all the movies, and agreeing with Zahir Eowyn of Rohan, played so compellingly by Miranda Otto. For all the reasons Zahir said and for the way she slew the Witch King ( Witch King: "No man can slay me." Eowyn (ripping her helm from her and hair hangs free): "And I am NO MAN!") taraswizard
