We were watching the Williams sisters in the Final this morning, and yes, the weather looked gorgeous.

Since we've been talking about dragonflies, I thought I'd share some shots I took last year:

Coolness! I rarely see them sitting still. Or rather, more likely, I don't notice them unless they fly in front of my face.

I really like that guy on the bottom. I love how he has that one little patch of color on the leading edge of all four of his wings.

Alright, after the past couple of days with extreme heat and humidity, I am now ready for autumn.

This week is the huge Ann Arbor Art Fair. The local paper said that over 40 people had to be treated with related problems in local hospitals' emergency rooms so far. Many more were treated at the Fair by EMT's and ambulence crews. Drink water, people! In hot humid weather, water is your friend!

In fact, one of my friends is volunteering at the Art Fair today. She will be handing out ice and ice water to miserable looking people for eight hours. Since she is a pharmacist, she can also help out in medical emergencies...

That would be funny if it weren't so awful, duchess. Medical emergency crews...hospitalization...! Sounds like something you'd see at a grueling athletic event, not an art fair. Yeah, humidity sucks.

I'm looking forward to autumn, too. For the cooler temperatures and the gorgeous colours. However, it has been a cooler-than-normal July so far, though we're expecting a mini-heatwave next week.

Oh, and regarding dragonflies, I had been hoping to get snapshots of them at Folkfest, but I didn't get lucky. For whatever reason, I didn't see as many dragonflies this time around.

Wow. It's wings are beautiful - like those leaded glass panes you see in old historic buildings sometimes...

I find it amusing that this thread is still active when it's July and summer.

Spring has come and gone.

It's only a month or so away for me...and I'm sure ready for it.

Nice little autumn preview today. Chilly enough that I'm wearing long pants and a long sleeved shirt, and we're even having a bit of cold drizzle.

We're in the middle of a heatwave. Actually, last Friday was the first time this year we hit 30 degrees, which is unusually late for us.

Our autumn usually starts in September around here. In the northern parts of the state, they can get snow in September.

Today the Sun of Rain hit us...one big downpour after another. But that cooled things down considerably - gives us a nice respite from the heatwave. We're having a late hot summer here.
