Yesterday Beorn and I did the prospective student information session and campus tour of UF, since there was a teachers workday at school. It was followed up with lunch, tour of the Honors College residence hall, and an Honors College information session. We were on campus from 10 am until 5:30 pm. Long day...

In the midst of that, Hypercpetion's mother is visiting and Beorn volunteered me to make fried rice for his anime club's Halloween party last night. So for once, my online time is pretty restricted throughout the weekend with family visits and more Halloween plans. I'll be back to my normal online presence on Monday, most likely.

aliantha and duchess are in Columbus, OH at World Fantasy Fest. aliantha will even be on a panel and in the group autograph session as a published author, if I am recalling what she said correctly!

Yes. She was a panel on new uses of mythology in fantasy writing (or something to that effect) last night. And she was gracious enough to sign my copy of her book.

Oh no! Menolly had restricted access only for 48hrs...how did she survive?!?

The title of the panel was something like, "New uses for old mythologies." The definition of "mythology" was kinda broad -- we had an urban fantasy writer (okay, she works in African gods, so it's not just vampires!), a guy who's been writing thrillers based on Egyptian gods somehow, a woman who has written stories based in Shakespeare's "world" (if I interpreted her website correctly), and me with my Slavic goddess. I don't think I sounded like too much of an idiot, so it's all good.

I'm back, did ya miss me?

Spent a week in the Drakensberg mountains, was cold and wet most of the time. Got in a few good hikes, a little rap jump, and all in all expended far more energy than I would have liked. Oh well, still got a couple weeks holiday thank gods.

Will try be a bit more active. Here I mean.
